How this is worked out
iUnlike petrol, your energy bill does not follow today's wholesale price.
Ofgem resets the price cap every three months from prices averaged over the months before, so
a rise or fall in wholesale gas now shows up in the cap one or two quarters later, and only in
the wholesale part of it. If you are on a fixed tariff, your price does not move until the fix
ends.
