MAN unveils new all-electric eTGX truck

SMMT has published details of MAN's new all-electric eTGX truck. The vehicle offers improved range and efficiency, with a typical 4x2 model reaching 660 kilometres (410 miles) on a single charge.

SMMT has announced the launch of MAN's new all-electric eTGX truck. The manufacturer describes the vehicle as more efficient than the previous model, citing better batteries and recuperation. The update includes improved safety features and design changes aimed at enhancing driver visibility.

Figures published with the announcement show that a typical 4x2 semitrailer tractor has a total battery capacity of 552 kWh. This configuration allows for a maximum range of 660 kilometres (410 miles). A future 6x2 semitrailer tractor is expected to have a battery capacity of 644 kWh and a maximum range of 720 kilometres (447 miles). The power of recuperation has increased by 20 per cent, while future maximum drive power is set at 598 hp.

Charging options include an optional MCS port, which has been in series production since July. Under the plans, this port allows batteries to be refilled in a short period, with maximum charging power reaching 750 kW. The announcement does not specify the exact duration of the recharge time, noting only that the port enables rapid refilling.

Design modifications include a lowered windscreen frame and a new window to improve the driver's line of sight. The front end has been extended by 120 millimetres to reduce air resistance. These aerodynamic changes are part of the broader update to the eTGX platform, intended to support the vehicle's operational efficiency.
