FCDO updates US entry advice with new Ebola information
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has published updated travel advice for the USA, including new details on Ebola. The guidance applies to British citizens travelling from the UK. Passports must be valid for the entire duration of the planned stay.
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has updated its travel advice regarding entry requirements for the United States. The revision includes new information about Ebola on the entry requirements page. This update forms part of the department's ongoing guidance for travellers.
Travellers must hold either a valid US visa or an ESTA before departure. US authorities may detain, refuse entry to, or deport individuals who do not have correct immigration status or breach entry terms. Having a valid ESTA or visa does not guarantee entry into the US, as the country can change travel conditions at any time without prior notice.
Passports must be valid for the entire duration of the planned stay in the US. Many countries require a minimum passport validity of 6 months for transit. British citizens returning to the UK must carry a valid British passport or certificate of entitlement.
The guidance is intended for those holding a full British citizen passport and departing from the UK. It reflects the government's current understanding of rules for the most common types of travel.
