FCDO updates Nigeria travel advice on entry and health
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has published updated travel guidance for Nigeria. The notice covers entry requirements and health screening. Passports must remain valid for 6 months after arrival.
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has updated its travel advice for Nigeria. The revision includes information on Ebola screening, healthcare access, and entry requirements for British citizens.
The guidance advises against all travel to Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, and Gombe states in North East Nigeria. It also recommends against all but essential travel to Bauchi, Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi, and Jigawa states in the North West. Travel to the riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states is discouraged.
Entry rules require passports to be valid for 6 months after the date of arrival. This requirement applies to individuals travelling on a full ‘British citizen’ passport from the UK. The authorities in Nigeria are responsible for setting and enforcing these entry rules.
Travel insurance may be invalidated if a person travels against the advice published by the department. The announcement does not specify further details on insurance coverage or specific screening procedures beyond the general mention of Ebola screening.
