FCDO updates Kenya travel advice with new Ebola and entry rules
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has published updated travel guidance for Kenya. The new advice includes information on Ebola screening and specific areas where travel is restricted. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months after arrival and have 2 blank pages.
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has updated its travel advice for Kenya. The announcement includes new information about Ebola screening and specifies areas where travel is advised against due to terrorism risks from groups based in Somalia.
Specific restrictions apply to certain zones. In Wajir County, all travel is advised against within 60km of the border with Somalia. Between the Tana River and the Galana River, all but essential travel is advised against within 15km of the east coast. Garissa Town and specific areas of Tana River County also fall under the advice against all but essential travel.
Entry requirements for British citizens include passport validity rules. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months after the arrival date and have at least 2 blank pages. These rules apply to people travelling on a full ‘British citizen’ passport from the UK. Entry rules are set and enforced by the authorities in Kenya.
Travel insurance may be invalidated if a person travels against FCDO advice. The guidance does not state further details on the scope of the Ebola screening measures beyond their inclusion in the updated advice.
