FCDO advises against all travel to Yemen
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has announced new travel advice for Yemen, urging people to leave immediately. The guidance states that support for British nationals is severely limited. There are no evacuation procedures in place.
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has updated its travel guidance for the country. The department advises against all travel to the whole of Yemen due to unpredictable security conditions and regional tensions. It also instructs those currently in the country to leave immediately.
The conflict began in early 2026. In July 2026, the Houthis started launching air strikes against Saudi territory and shipping vessels in the Red Sea. British nationals in the Middle East should prepare for potential flight cancellations and airspace closures. Those in Yemen can call 020 7008 5000 for help, a line available 24 hours.
Support for British people is severely limited in the region. All diplomatic and consular staff have been withdrawn from Sana’a, and embassy services are suspended. The UK government cannot assist British nationals in leaving the country, nor does it have evacuation procedures in place. Travel insurance may be invalidated if a journey is taken against this advice.
