Network Rail has published details of track and bridge maintenance work scheduled for the October half-term. The project involves replacing 28 wheel timbers at a bridge between Staines and Wraysbury, as well as 30 long timbers on the approach to Windsor & Eton Riverside station. Engineers will also renew the switches and crossings near Staines station.
Buses will replace trains between Staines and Windsor & Eton Riverside from Monday 26 October to Sunday 1 November. Additionally, bus services will operate between Hounslow, Feltham and Virginia Water from Saturday 31 October to Sunday 1 November. Feltham station will be closed on Sunday 1 November. Thomas Desmond, Operations Director for South Western Railway and Network Rail Wessex, said: "These upgrades represent an important investment into the railway's future, improving reliability, reducing the likelihood of disruption and ensuring that we continue to provide a safe and dependable service for our customers."
The maintenance is part of a wider plan that includes a £15 million investment in track and signalling improvements between London Waterloo and Woking. Figures published with the announcement show that 70 train services use the station every weekday. Passengers travelling on these routes should expect to use bus replacement services during the specified dates.
